Focus and Scope

Lontara: Journal of Learning, Teaching, and Research publishes scholarly works that contribute to the development of knowledge, policy, and practice in education. The journal provides an academic platform for students in education and teacher-training programs, teachers, lecturers, researchers, educational practitioners, curriculum developers, and other scholars.

The journal welcomes manuscripts based on empirical research, theoretical analysis, critical review, classroom practice, educational innovation, and research-based development. Submissions should demonstrate a clear academic purpose, an appropriate research or analytical approach, and a meaningful contribution to educational knowledge or practice.

Focus

The journal focuses on learning, teaching, and educational research across formal, non-formal, and informal educational settings. It encourages studies that connect educational theory with evidence-based practice and respond to contemporary challenges in education.

Scope

The journal welcomes manuscripts addressing, but not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Learning and Learning Outcomes

Studies on learning processes, learning strategies, student engagement, motivation, learning difficulties, academic achievement, learner autonomy, learning environments, and factors influencing educational outcomes.

  1. Teaching and Instructional Practice

Research on teaching methods, instructional approaches, lesson planning, classroom interaction, classroom management, differentiated instruction, reflective teaching, and evidence-based instructional practices.

  1. Educational Research

Qualitative, quantitative, mixed-methods, classroom-based, evaluation, experimental, and development studies conducted in early childhood, primary, secondary, vocational, higher, non-formal, and community education.

  1. Teacher Education and Professional Development

Studies on pre-service and in-service teacher education, teacher competence, professional identity, teacher beliefs, reflective practice, instructional leadership, mentoring, supervision, and continuing professional development.

  1. Learning Innovation

Research on innovative learning models, teaching strategies, educational resources, learning materials, project-based learning, problem-based learning, collaborative learning, blended learning, and other educational innovations.

  1. Educational Technology and Digital Learning

Studies on technology-supported instruction, digital learning environments, learning management systems, online and blended learning, mobile learning, artificial intelligence in education, digital literacy, multimedia learning, and the development of educational applications.

  1. Curriculum Studies

Research on curriculum design, curriculum development, curriculum implementation, curriculum evaluation, curriculum reform, local curriculum, competency-based curriculum, and the relationship between curriculum policy and classroom practice.

  1. Assessment and Evaluation

Studies on classroom assessment, formative and summative assessment, authentic assessment, educational measurement, test development, instrument validation, program evaluation, learning analytics, and feedback practices.

  1. Inclusive and Equitable Education

Research concerning inclusive education, special educational needs, educational access, gender equity, cultural diversity, social inclusion, vulnerable learners, and educational opportunities for marginalized communities.

  1. Educational Policy and Leadership

Studies on educational policy, school leadership, institutional management, quality assurance, educational governance, policy implementation, and decision-making in educational institutions.

  1. Language and Literacy in Educational Contexts

Research on language learning, literacy development, academic literacy, multilingual education, language teaching, reading and writing instruction, and language use in educational settings.

  1. Community-Based and Lifelong Learning

Studies on community education, adult education, informal learning, lifelong learning, family involvement, local knowledge, educational outreach, and partnerships between educational institutions and communities.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal prioritizes the following types of manuscripts:

• Original research articles
• Review articles
• Classroom action research
• Case studies
• Research and development studies

The journal may also consider other scholarly manuscripts that are relevant to its focus and scope and meet the journal’s academic and ethical standards.

Manuscripts Outside the Scope

Manuscripts that do not have a clear connection to learning, teaching, educational research, or educational practice may be rejected during the initial editorial screening. Submissions that are purely descriptive, lack an appropriate scholarly foundation, do not present a clear contribution, or fall outside the journal’s educational orientation may not be forwarded for peer review.

Language of Publication

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. An English abstract is required for every submission. Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are carefully proofread and written in clear, accurate, consistent, and academically appropriate language.
