About the Journal

Lontara: Journal of Learning, Teaching, and Research is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed scholarly journal published by Malebbi Global Care in Palopo, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The journal was first published in 2026 and is issued twice a year, in June and December.

Aims

The journal aims to support the development and dissemination of reliable, relevant, and ethically responsible scholarly knowledge in learning, teaching, and educational research. It provides an academic platform for students in education and teacher-training programs, teachers, lecturers, researchers, educational practitioners, curriculum developers, and other scholars to communicate research findings, theoretical perspectives, and evidence-based educational practices.

Focus and Scope

The journal publishes scholarly works concerning learning processes and outcomes, teaching methods, educational research, teacher education and professional development, instructional practice, classroom management, learning innovation, educational technology, digital learning, curriculum design and implementation, assessment and evaluation, inclusive education, educational policy, and other relevant educational studies.

Priority is given to original research articles, review articles, classroom action research, case studies, and research and development studies that demonstrate a clear academic purpose, an appropriate research or analytical method, and a meaningful contribution to educational knowledge or practice.

Language of Publication

Manuscripts may be written in Indonesian or English. An English abstract is required for every submission. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts have been carefully proofread and are written in clear, accurate, consistent, and academically appropriate language.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published twice a year, in June and December.

Peer-Review Process

Every submitted manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its relevance to the journal, compliance with submission requirements, originality, academic quality, and suitability for peer review.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated through a double-blind peer-review process involving at least two reviewers. Under this system, the identities of the authors are concealed from the reviewers, and the identities of the reviewers are concealed from the authors.

A manuscript may undergo more than one round of review and revision. Editorial decisions may include Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, Resubmit for Review, or Reject. The final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or an assigned editor after considering the reviewers’ recommendations, the quality of the manuscript, and the authors’ responses to the requested revisions.

Open Access Policy

The journal provides immediate open access to all published content. Readers may access, read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to published articles without subscription or access charges, subject to the terms of the applicable publication license.

Copyright and License

Authors retain copyright in their published work and grant the journal the right of first publication. Articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

This license permits readers to share and adapt published material for lawful purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the author or authors, the original publication is properly identified, a link to the license is provided, and any modifications are clearly indicated.

Publication Ethics

The journal is committed to responsible scholarly publishing and applies ethical principles concerning originality, authorship, conflicts of interest, research integrity, informed consent, participant confidentiality, data accuracy, corrections, and retractions.

The journal’s ethical policies are informed by internationally recognized principles of publication ethics. However, the journal does not claim membership in any professional publication ethics organization unless such membership has been officially obtained and verified.

Plagiarism Screening

Submitted manuscripts are screened using Turnitin. Similarity reports are evaluated contextually by the editorial team and are not assessed solely on the basis of a numerical percentage. The reference list and properly presented direct quotations may be excluded from the similarity calculation.

Manuscripts containing plagiarism, unattributed material, duplicate publication, inappropriate text recycling, fabricated references, or other forms of academic misconduct may be returned to the authors, rejected, corrected, or retracted, depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.

Generative Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence systems cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot take responsibility for the integrity of scholarly work. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, transparency, citations, analysis, and conclusions of their manuscripts.

Any substantive use of generative artificial intelligence in writing, translation, paraphrasing, data analysis, coding, or image production must be disclosed transparently. Artificial intelligence must not be used to fabricate data, participants, quotations, references, statistical results, or research findings.

Research Data and Participant Protection

Authors are encouraged to include a data availability statement and to make supporting data available through an appropriate repository when ethically, legally, and practically possible. Data may also be made available by the corresponding author upon reasonable request.

Research involving human participants must protect privacy, confidentiality, dignity, and informed consent. Participant information must be anonymized or pseudonymized when necessary. Research involving children or vulnerable groups must apply appropriate additional safeguards.

Privacy Statement

Names, email addresses, affiliations, and other personal information entered into the journal website are used exclusively for the journal’s editorial, publication, communication, and administrative purposes. Such information will not be made available for unrelated purposes or disclosed to third parties except when required for journal operations, ethical investigation, legal compliance, or with the individual’s consent.

Digital Preservation and Archiving

The publisher maintains internal backups of journal data and publication files as part of its continuity and recovery procedures. Participation in external preservation services, including LOCKSS, CLOCKSS, or the PKP Preservation Network, will be announced only after the relevant service has been formally activated and its status has been verified.

Registration and Indexing Information

The journal’s ISSN registration, DOI arrangement, and applications to relevant indexing and abstracting services are currently in process. The journal does not claim an ISSN, DOI registration, indexing coverage, or accreditation status until the relevant status has been officially granted and can be independently verified.
