Copyright and License

Authors retain the copyright to articles published in Acca: Journal of Academic Culture, Curriculum, and Assessment.

By submitting and publishing an article in Acca, the authors grant the journal the right of first publication. The authors also authorize Acca and its publisher, Malebbi Global Care, to publish, reproduce, distribute, preserve, index, archive, and make the article publicly available in electronic or other formats.

Copyright Ownership

Copyright remains with the author or authors. Acca does not require authors to transfer full copyright ownership to the journal or publisher.

Authors retain the right to:

• be identified and acknowledged as the creators of the work;
• use the article in teaching, research, and professional activities;
• include the article in a thesis, dissertation, book, or collected work;
• deposit the published article in an institutional or subject repository;
• share the article through personal websites and academic networks; and
• enter into additional non-exclusive distribution arrangements.

Any subsequent distribution or republication must acknowledge the original publication in Acca.

Right of First Publication

Authors grant Acca the right of first publication. This means that the journal is authorized to publish the article for the first time as the official version of record.

After publication, authors may distribute or republish the article through other lawful channels, provided that the original publication in Acca is clearly acknowledged and linked where possible.

Creative Commons License

All articles published in Acca are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Under the CC BY 4.0 license, users may:

• copy and redistribute the published material in any medium or format;
• adapt, remix, transform, translate, and build upon the material; and
• use the material for academic, educational, professional, commercial, or other lawful purposes.

Attribution Requirements

Anyone who shares, adapts, or reuses material published in Acca must:

• give appropriate credit to the author or authors;
• identify Acca as the original place of publication;
• include the article title and publication details;
• provide a link to the original article where possible;
• provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license; and
• indicate whether any changes were made.

Attribution must not suggest that the authors, editors, journal, or publisher endorse a modified work, product, organization, or service.

Author Self-Archiving

Authors may deposit and distribute the published version of their article through:

• institutional repositories;
• subject-based repositories;
• personal or institutional websites;
• academic social networks;
• research profiles; and
• other lawful scholarly platforms.

Authors are encouraged to include the article DOI or a link to the official publication page in Acca.

Third-Party Materials

The CC BY 4.0 license applies to the article unless a table, figure, photograph, illustration, instrument, dataset, or other material is identified as being subject to a different copyright or license.

Authors are responsible for:

• identifying third-party copyrighted materials;
• obtaining written permission where required;
• providing accurate source acknowledgment;
• complying with the terms of the original license; and
• submitting evidence of permission when requested by the journal.

Materials not covered by the article's CC BY 4.0 license may not be reused without permission from the relevant copyright holder, unless the use is otherwise permitted by law.

Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts do not violate copyright, licensing, privacy, confidentiality, or intellectual property rights.

Authors must ensure that:

• the submitted manuscript is their original work;
• all sources are appropriately acknowledged;
• all co-authors have approved the submission and publication;
• permission has been obtained for protected third-party materials;
• the manuscript does not contain unauthorized confidential information; and
• all copyright and licensing information is accurate.

Journal and Publisher Responsibility

Acca and Malebbi Global Care make reasonable efforts to identify copyright and licensing issues during the editorial and publication process. However, authors remain primarily responsible for the legality and originality of the materials included in their articles.

The journal may correct, remove, restrict, or retract material when a credible copyright or intellectual property violation is identified.

Acceptance of the Policy

Submission of a manuscript to Acca indicates that all authors have read, understood, and agreed to this Copyright and License Policy.
