Supervisi Akademik Kepala Sekolah dalam Meningkatkan Profesionalisme Guru di SMPN 1 Sukamaju Luwu Utara

Abstract

The quality of education is fundamentally dependent on teacher competence, which requires continuous nurturing through effective academic supervision. Despite its importance, practical challenges in planning and execution frequently hinder the optimal achievement of educational goals at the secondary school level. Therefore, this study aims to comprehensively analyze the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of academic supervision conducted by the principal at SMPN 1 Sukamaju, North Luwu. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach utilizing a case study design. Data were systematically collected through direct observation, semi-structured interviews with the principal and teachers, and documentation. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with validity ensured via source and method triangulation. The findings indicate that the planning of academic supervision is conducted systematically, explicitly considering school characteristics and individual teacher needs. Furthermore, the implementation utilizes a participatory approach, actively involving teachers in decision-making processes. The evaluation phase provides constructive face-to-face feedback, creating a synergistic relationship between planning and execution. In conclusion, effective academic supervision demands structured planning, collaborative implementation, and continuous evaluation to significantly enhance teacher professionalism.
